Project Steps
1. Supplies
You will need ribbon, any size, any color. Ribbon is really cheap, and you can either buyan entire spool, or just a certain length. If you are only making one headband, then you probably don't need very much.
Next you will need some elastic. The size of elastic depends on the width of the ribbon. Elastic is also cheap, and it typically comes in black and white. Again, you will only need a small amount of elastic, so one package will probabley make several bows.
Sewing machine (or if you don't have one, you could probably hand stitch it), and thread to match the ribbon (or close to it).
2. Measure
Measure your baby or child's head before making the headbands. Cut the ribbon maybe 2 inches shorter than the head, to allow the elastic to stretch a little bit.
3. Cut
Cut the ribbon. You will need to cut the ribbon for the piece to going around the head. Then you will need a little loop for ribbon, and then you will need a piece to tiw a bow around the loop. The loop should be long enough to slide onto the head pirce, but small enough to not move around a lot. The bow part can be asl long as you want. It is better to cut it longer, and then trim it up after you have the desired bow size.
You will also need to cut the elastic. I actually trimmed the sides of my elastic, so it would be the same width as the ribbon. Then, I cut about a two inch strip for the head piece.
