Introduction
Our kitchen/dining room is a mess, with the kitchen floor's half being covered with wrecked vinyl, and the dining room portion being covered with carpet. I am going to be ripping up the carpeted portion and then laying laminate flooring over the top of the concrete and vinyl.

Purchased the flooring

I purchased the laminate flooring from Home Depot after looking at several different options. For my first attempt at putting in a laminate floor I went with the cheap kind so I won't feel terribly sad if I totally botch it. My question is, is there even really much of a difference in laminate floors as far as life and look?
